Next Generation Jazz at the Ware Center

On Sunday March 17th at 5:00pm, The Next Generation concert brings together for the first time young jazz musicians from this area who've made their mark on the regional, state and national level.

Drummer Fred Griggs from Carlisle just returned from 10 days in Los Angeles where he played in the 2013 Grammy Jazz Band, an ensemble comprised of the best high-school jazz musicians in the nation. While in Los Angeles, Fred got to play with Chick Corea and Stanley Clarke, and meet Charlie Haden and Esperanza Spalding. Fred also made the All-State Jazz Ensemble in 2012.Trombonist St. Clair Simmons of York, a sophomore at Manhattan School of Music, is a former Grammy and All-State musician.

Other All-State musicians in the Next Generation concert include saxophonists Hayden Diener and Temple students Seth Ebersole, drummer Austin Wagner, vocalist and Berkelee College of Music student Nicole Roberts and guitarist Ted Groth.
All of these musicians made District Jazz Band, as did bassist John Gingerich and pianist Colin Mekeel.
